Black Patent Malt is neutral in flavor, but can give off a hint of astringency when used at higher rates.
Features and uses:All beer styles and categories for color adjustment.
Use at at rate of 1% up to 10% for desired color in stouts and porters.
Can be used in conjunction with other dark or roasted malts to achieve desired color.
Will provide color without an overpowering flavor that is characteristic of European-style dark beers.
Can be used with or without roasted barley to brew a stout with more color and less intense roasted flavor notes.
Can be used in conjunction with chocolate malt to produce a porter with less pronounced chocolate flavor notes.
THIS IS NOT interchangeable with roasted barley only in conjunction with.
Brews darker colored beers with little/no impact to foam color when a dark beer with light head is desired.
